The Belgian GP sprint race delivered a dominant performance from Max Verstappen, who claimed victory after a stunning overtake on polesitter Oscar Piastri.
Pierre Gasly’s weekend went from promising to disastrous, after qualifying 8th, the Frenchman was forced to start from the pit lane due to technical issues, including a suspected water leak. He eventually joined the race two laps later and finished 20th, two laps down.
Oscar Piastri started from pole and initially defended well, but Verstappen powered past with a mega overtake, quickly taking control of the race. Behind them, Leclerc and Norris exchanged third place, with Norris eventually reclaiming the position. The top three fight intensified as Norris closed in on Piastri, turning the lead battle into a tight three-car showdown over the final 6 laps.
In the midfield, Hamilton struggled with rear tire issues after having a tough qualifying, starting 16th before managing to pass Albon for 15th. Esteban Ocon impressed in 5th for Haas, picking up 4 points, with Sainz in 6th and rookie Bearman adding more points for Haas, finishing 7th.
Verstappen took the win, Piastri held on for second, and Norris completed the podium.
Red Bull entered its first weekend of a new era without Christian Horner at the helm, with Laurent Mekies taking over responsibilities. Speculations swirled around Verstappen’s future and possible links to Mercedes, but for now, the Dutchman remains untouchable on track.
